P56: I like hearing the good news: easier than the first, less nausea, and an end in sight. Why does he need to have a tube? What is draining? (blood I assume, but sounds like a lot if he needs a drain for that) Sure hope it has nothing to do with spinal fluid. I hate to hear he's having muscle spasms. Ouch!

so glad the news was good for your D gsharp!!
i'm assuming the drain is for blood too lima, would not want any blood collecting around the spinal cord... shouldnt be spinal fluid as the dura should hopefully seal itself. didnt get a spinal headache with the first one, and so far none with the 2nd, They will take the drain out tomorrow..after the first surgery he definitely felt better with the drain out. All his staples will come out in 2 weeks. I told him staples are easy to take out, if they give him the staple remover, told him his wife could do it... he didnt like that idea, says he will find a doctor to do it once home.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday!
S says in Calc IV they've moved on to "triple integrals." What this is I have no idea but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't understand it even if it were explained to me.
Anybody else have an allergy to sunscreen? I thought maybe the sun was making me itch, but it's actually something in sunscreen.
And yes, where did the summer go? We're planning our August travel (big road trip to see relatives & others in many states) and can't believe it's almost here. The World Choir Games sure kept 2 weeks in July interesting! The last choir got here late due to travel issues of some kind, coming from Indonesia and totally MISSED the competitions, but our city showed them a good time anyway. They did a concert in full native dress downtown on Fountain Square and at the end we were all dancing with them. In the heat. Good times.

he seemed in better spirits after the 2nd surgey vs the first munequita. drain out today which will make him happy (that seems to be the biggest problem he has) my DIL texted a pic of him in the recovery room so that was good to see him.

Good morning.
p56 I hope your S continues to feel better when the drain's gone.
G#: I'm glad about the eye doctor outcome.
In college news, S originally said he's not the least bit interested in study abroad. "Been there, done that" was his thinking. (Sorry, kid, but 14 days in Paris after 10th grade isn't the same thing. )
Anyway, yesterday he mentioned receiving an email about a study abroad internship that he found mildly interesting. He didn't sound wowed, but this is the first sign of a change to his "no way" mentality. He volunteered to send me the email, but it hasn't arrived yet. Of course, I'm on the edge of my seat. Must. Not. Nag.
Have a great day!

Morning all! Fantastic news to start the day about P56's S and G#'s D. So happy that all is going well.
Can I offer some Tim Horton's donuts? We have a few left from our trip to Ohio. We also had Graeter's Ice Cream (how can you not love an ice cream place that has a separate, robust list of flavors with chocolate chips?) and I stopped for Skyline Chili dogs on the way home. Yum!
D1 informed me last night that she's starting to stage her stuff for the return to school in the guest room. What!? She bought a mattress topper yesterday and some sheets & a new duvet last week. I think the move in date is a month from tomorrow.

Um, I don't know what a dutchie is. I have a Boston Creme, a Maple Glazed, a Maple frosted custard filled, 2 sour cream and a vanilla frosted with rainbow sprinkles.

Mmmmm. Doughnuts.
Glad to hear things are going well, p56.
Off to see my parents today. Tomorrow is the appt to find out whether he'll have surgery. I could use the PVC at 9:15 a.m. Central. For the record, we want him to have the surgery.

P56 - Glad your son's surgeries went well, sending continuing healing thoughts.
G# - Glad its nothing serious with your D's eyes. I totally agree with her, there's nothing worse than not being able to wear contacts.
D is extremely stressed since she still has not heard from housing I've called twice and gotten nasty lady and nice lady. Conversation with Nasty lady - Any idea when she'll be notified? - No, Do you know if they will be offering everyone on the waitlist housing? - No, Can you tell me where she is on the waitlist? - No Responses from Nice lady - We are slowly sending out emails with housing offers. We believe that we will be able to make a first offer to everyone on the list. Very frustrating.
S doesn't leave until the end of August, but I'm starting to get anxious about my upcoming empty nest. |

Good morning!
Happy Tuesday! Thanks for the donuts and coffee!! (I will pass on the Pepsi "No Coke! Pepsi!" Classic!!)
I am slowly leaving my state of denial and gearing up for S3's "application season". Wish me luck!!
I find myself day-dreaming about D1 and S2 going back to college (life at home was really nice with just one kid), and then I remember D1 GRADUATED college, is not going back and will be with us for at least a year while she student teaches and gets her masters, and I get a little depressed. I love her to death, but she is a "wee bit" high maintenance.
I am happy to hear about the good "medical" news for G#DD and P56 DS! Let's hope the PVC works for YDS' dad as well.

Good morning - oops, it's after 12. Slow start for me today.
Glad to hear that P56's S1 is doing well, and that Gsharp's D2 did not need to see the opthalmologist. Sending continued healing wishes to both. Also sending good vibes for YDS's father.
mommusic - I don't know if I have an allergy to sunscreen, but my skin doesn't like it, or too much sun for that matter. I have switched over to Shiseido's sunscreen - purchased at the makeup counter. All their stuff seems to be fine on my sensitive skin, so I also use their moisturizer, etc. Expensive, but it works.
DB - My S is definitely NOT interested in study abroad. He traveled in Greece at the end of 8th grade, and he spent a summer in Israel after 10th grade in a campus/study-like setting, and would just rather be here. I sometimes think he chose a double major just to make it impossible to study abroad - though I have to say that the programs for Math and CS majors are kind of limited anyway (the only good one I know if is in Budapest). This is one of the ways in which my two kids are REALLY different. D loves to travel, especially abroad, and is totally comfortable doing it all on her own, while S would rather not go at all. It's all good.

alice, funny you should mention study abroad. Just got off the phone with the financial services office to make sure that this FA award will hold up despite study abroad, what it means for work-study, etc. Funny that ds had mostly correct answers but not for the right reasons! Lucky!!!! He was relieved when I explained to him why things are the way they are and that there shouldn't be a lot of surprises when this finally shakes out.
