Good morning. Thanks for the coffee.

Congrats to your S on the job, lilmom! And on the purging.

Laf - the PVC is aimed squarely on your D at Elon.

Here's a little good news from COLLEGE: S got back a bunch of PE grades yesterday. All 100%. Hey, a one-credit A is still an A.

H and I have our first wide open weekend as empty nesters coming up. (And probably the only one until football season ends.) We're trying to figure out what to do. I suggested visiting Antietam National Battlefield or North Beach, Md. He suggested a microbrewfest. This may get interesting.

lilmom, congrats on cleaning and ds's job!

DB, I agree. An A is an A. Have fun on your weekend.

Wow, what a sports night last night. Rangers win in exciting fashion and the controversial call in the football game. Not to tick off Packers fans (do we have any?), but if Jennings (or someone other defender) had just batted the ball away the questionable call would never have had to come into play.

Just a quick drive by for me today, as I have lots of work to get done and need to leave early to get home and prepare for Yom Kippur.

More pvc vibes coming at your D from here, Laf. Hope things are looking up really soon.

Congrats to lilmom's S on the job (and to lilmon on the de-cluttering. Can my house be next on your list?)

Congrats to lotsofquests's S on the Denmark program. I have survived my older child's study abroad experience (which included a weekend trip to Copenhagen where one of her best friends was studying abroad the same semester) and lived to tell the tale. I'll be here for support.

For all those participating in Yom Kippur activities - wishing you a meaningful holiday and an easy fast.

lilmom - yea on the job for your S. And yea to you on the de-cluttering. I had bags of clothes, shoes and even some toys in my garage and a few larger items and decided to do a garage sale last weekend with a friend. Most of the stuff I had was my D's and it was nice, they just didn't wear it anymore. I had most items priced at $1 or $2 dollars and I made $150 for my 4 hours of sitting outside and chatting with my friend!

lotsofquests - Congrats to your S on the Denmark study abroad.

DB - nice to see those A's!

aliceinw - I hope that you and all others celebrating Yom Kippur have a good holiday.

Denmark isn't really any further than the rest of Europe though probably fewer flights than Paris and London. Is he going to learn some Danish? Does he know German or another similar language?

Our son is planning on spending both semesters of his junior year abroad if all goes well. No surprise, but sigh...

hello everyone! yay for lilmom's S on the job and lotsofquests S on the SA. PVC to Laf's D.

on the decluttering topic, I was cleaning off our desk area in the kitchen (which I also learned is passe' in the kitchen trends) and I found 1. a BBB golden ticket (20% off your entire purchase) which I added to our stash of BBB coupons, 2. two BN coupons which would have expired 9/30 which I used for books for D (yes, the D who's school year has not yet started) and 3. an amazon mp3 coupon code which I sent to D2 since I got it when purchasing books for her, also with a 9/30 expiration. Usually we find coupons way after their expiration so I consider this a huge success, yay me.

carry on all

Does everyone on this thread only do the bump or does someone occasionally do the hustle?

S was in IB program for high school, started German in kindergarten, and spent 3 weeks in Germany living with a family that spoke little English. He only got around 500 on his SAT II but the IB coordinator said it was because IB German didnt focus much on grammar. Don't know if that was just rationalization. His classes in Denmark will be in English but he wants to study Danish. He looked into Rosetta Stone but it doesnt do Danish. I think he will be able to find something online to get him started. I think his 3 weeks in Germany showed him that you can survive with only English but you will get more out of the experience if you have a little knowledge of the native language.

I didn't find any soon to expire coupons when I cleaned out my desk but I did find my season of ballet tickets that had somehow gotten into a stack of computer paper and was stuffed into a drawer instead of being in the file cabinet.

I bump and hustle. And macarena!

Ds is on study abroad, and we're surviving. By the time your ds goes, my ds will be back. I'll have the lowdown and can offer moral support. Well, I'll do that anyways -- good luck!
