Just noticed that I posted after lunch today, but it shows as yesterday 9:20 pm. Why is that? Oh well, this is one way to get my post count up!

P56, If you are going to nag, you might as well nag multiple times, why not? That's my philosophy :-)

lol munequita.. waiting on son to call tonight, to book airfare to a meeting he is presenting at....trying to decide whether to nag about a few other things...but may hold off, he texted today and sounds like it was a rotten day! he is such a procrastinator though , i'll always have opportunities to nag.

I understand, it's amazing how they manage to do well when they wait until the last minute to get things done

Good morning!
The above posts resonated with me. S is meeting with his advisor today after work. "Have you looked at the list of honors seminars available for spring semester?" "No." "Have you...etc. etc. " "Not yet."
I could go on, but the point is, spring semester is just too FAR AWAY to think about. I think he'd be happy if someone else would just choose classes for him and he wouldn't have to think about it until January 3 or so.
He's MAKING me be a helicopter mom! |

Haha parent 56--last son at Case Western saved all his "writing intensive" liberal arts seminars for last. It was NOT a fun year. Year and a half.
This son has the core covered, and is ahead on the CS & Math courses, he just has to read over course descriptions & decide what other CS courses to take...Which direction to go in. He has no idea and of course, neither do I.

I. Am. So. Tired. Has nothing to do with COLLEGE boy. Being the mom of a senior was easier the first time around.
alice, I mentioned to ds1 that registration is soon. I do think he'd mostly forgotten about it, so thanks for the reminder.
Have a great day, all. Hoping to go back to sleep.

I'm joining the naggers: just sent a text to S2 to follow up on something important. Do they award a Medal for Meritorious Nagging? Because I would be edible.
I wonder what a Medal for Meritorious Nagging would look like? Hmm, I think it would consist of a patriotic ribbon around the neck with a large bronze medal. The medal would be decorated with a wreath of ginkgo leaves instead of laurel leaves (because the fruit of ginkgo trees really stinks).
PNJ: I hope you are feeling better. Fall colds are worse than smelly ginkgo trees.
DB: fingers crossed that all goes well for your S with his study abroad.
YDS: I was exhausted after my S2's senior year too. My hat is off to those who go though this process multiple times. (My neighbor has 7 kids - wonder what she'll be like by the end?)

S2 just called, met with advisor...think i may be in doo doo... the school has this degree tracker thing they started this year and for some reason it will not load on my computer at home ...when S2 told me about it he said to go ahead and look at it...well i tried,,and i tried and i tried, different times of the day etc as satellite speed can vary....apparently it logs how many times a student looks at it and shows tried 25+ time .. advisor cracked up at how many times S2 had logged in. uh oh!

Good morning, all.
12rmh18 - Would YOU be edible, or would the medal be edible? We have a large old ginkgo tree in our yard, and they really DO stink when the fruit falls.
I'm not sure it really fits in the nagging category, but S called last night to discuss his two dilemmas - should he convert his current non-math/CS course to pass/fail, and what should he take for his non-math/CS course next term. We kicked around a number of questions, and hopefully he will discuss with his advisor. I hope he didn't really think I would tell him what to do. I was very impressed by all the ways he had already looked at the issue (not that I didn't raise some additional questions), and by the fact that he already has the card for pass/fail signed by the prof, so if he does decide to turn it in on Friday, he doesn't have to find her at the last minute. That's REAL progress. He also has all his distribution requirements covered, and is well on track to complete the requirements for a double math/CS major. Of course, there will be those pesky "integrative exercises" in each one. But he's saving some easy courses that he's interested in to take when he's working on those, so I guess he really has learned something about looking ahead.
p56 - I'm laughing about those tickets. I usually take care of S's tickets to and from school, but I will NOT be helping with his tickets to frisbee tournaments during winter term (I helped a little, last year, but refused to do it for him). He will have to do those, and as treasurer he may actually have to research flights, and teach new team members how to book theirs. Good experience for life, I guess.
I am nagging D about getting a flu shot - she works in a middle school, for heaven's sake!
Hope everyone's hump day is going well.
