I have a question for Pierre,

I just got my notification about being waitlisted and was wondering about a few stats about the waitlist. First how many does Clemson waitlist. Second what percentages of students that apply for waitlist get in. Third how does Clemson determine who makes it off the wait list and into the school, is it first who sign up for it get the first spots that open, or is based off academics and who on the wait list is most qualified.

These answers would really help as I am pondering if I should go on the wait list or not.

Sorry to hear that you were put on the waiting list.

Last year, 1,385 students were offered a spot on the waiting list. 718 students accepted. Of those students 196 students were accepted off the list. You can find past waiting list stats under the links here: http://www.clemson.edu/oirweb1/FB/factbook/PastCDS.html (just search "waiting list" since it's a long document)

The waiting list people are apparently ranked but it is unknown how people are ranked or even who is ranked where. I don't think it would be the time you sign up for the wait list (that wouldn't be fair), most likely based on qualifications.

3.3 GPA from a very competitive school (Includes a few AP courses)
28 ACT
Extra Circulars Include
Service trips abroad and within the USA
Worked all 3 summers at multiple jobs
Numerous leadership awards
Wrote as a journalist for a website (unpaid)
Various community religious and non religious volunteer groups

Still deciding on whether or not to do wait list, disappointed about not getting in, a few kids from my school with similar stats were admitted which made it worse

I understand. I was deferred from UGA and everyone it seems from my school got in. It hurt, and I didn't even want to go there. Stay positive.
