I turned down Vandy and didn't pursue my waitlist at Cornell to come to Clemson. For me, it wasn't worth the debt to go to a more prestigious schools. I have that option for Grad school though (when the name will help me more). I would go to the school that you like most. If you are a good student, being successful won't be a problem regardless of where you attend.

Depending on your major, the undergraduate school you pick can make a huge difference in your job search and graduate school applications. Despite my ties to Clemson (active alumni), my D chose BC over Clemson-cost is an extra $20,000 year but she has many job opportunities through BC in Boston that she would not have had at Clemson.

The difference for the first job can be immense, but after the difference is less important. After you have worked for 5 years, your experience will outweigh your school. Remember that performance, not prestige, determines promotions. A prestigious school certainly have a substantial affect on first jobs, but as time increase the school matters less.

chances are, you will excel at Clemson and have just as many opportunities, with less debt. choose the school that will be the best fit for you... money shouldn't ultimately determine your decision, but it should be kept in mind.
