Foreign Language requirement?

I was looking at the Clemson Common Data Set and was surprised to see that the school appears to require 3 years of a foreign language for freshman applicants. I double checked their web site and it says that 3 "credits" are required. My D took the standard 2 year requirement at her high school. Does that mean she can not apply to Clemson? We have looked at a lot of colleges but have not seen any that requires 3 years of a foreign language. Am I reading something wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that if you explain your situation, they will still let you apply. Actually most colleges prefer that you take 3-4 years of a foreign language anyways but yes, Clemson's requirement is that you take 3 years of a foreign language.

can't remember where I read it on the Clemson website, some FAQ somewhere, but it said definitely do apply even if you don't have the recommended three years, also suggested adding a counselor statement about why you did not. Since it was on the FAQ I think that is fairly common.

Actually Pierre, I have seen very few colleges that actually state 3-4 years in their recommended requirements. Maybe we're looking in different places? Think what is important is that the available schedule time is used wisely. (IMHO)
