there are none but if you apply by December 1st, you will receive a decision on or around February 15th, you will be considered for all academic recruiting scholarships and you may get a better look at your application if you apply early.

Pierre isnt it true that you get first consideration in housing? I seem to remember they go by the date they received your application.

Montegut, that is correct, Clemson used to have a rolling admissions policy but as of a few years ago, they changed it so that as long as you apply before December 1st, you get a decision on February 15th. You can only qualify for scholarships if you apply before December 31st. It would probably be in your advantage to apply before December 1st, you can always send your mid-term grades to Clemson anytime after that.

and good point, Clemson does housing priority based on the date that you APPLY to Clemson, not the day that you send in your housing application. With the crazy overflow situation this year, it would also be in your advantage to apply before December 1st or as early as you can.

Of subject but tip: if you change your housing application after the housing application is due in May, you lose housing priority. It happened to me and instead of getting Johnstone, I got an upperclassmen apartment complex (Calhoun Courts), well I think that's a good thing now haha

My daughter recieved a postcard from Clemson about 7 weeks ago. It said they had received her application and she would hear from them in 6 weeks. We are confused because we see on the web site it says results will be February 15. Has anyone else received this same card?

josief, last year a few students who were eligible for academic recruiting scholarships received their admissions decisions in December

"Applicants for admission are not required to write an essay. A "Candidate's comments" section is provided for the applicant to offer any remarks believed to be important in the evaluation of the application. These comments can include academic background, educational objectives, achievements, and career goals. "

Son was named a NMSF, and hopefully will be a finalist.

Is there any special scholarship at Clemson for students that fall in this category?

Son will be out of state and majoring in engineering. Also hopes to apply for the Honors college.

Academic recruiting scholarships are basically any scholarships awarded on academic merit (not based on diversity, athletics etc...).

According to the National Merit Scholarship organization website, Clemson offers three scholarships to national merit scholar finalists so your son may be eligible for this if he is indeed a finalist.

From the financial aid website (Scholarships) on academic recruiting scholarships
"Academic recruiting scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded to entering freshmen on the basis of their admissions applications, beginning in the fall. A financial aid application is not required.

These scholarships are renewable for an additional three years of continuous undergraduate study for students who continue to meet the minimum prescribed academic criteria. The criteria are usually a cumulative 3.0 GPR and a minimum of 12 credits completed each semester. Academic standing will be monitored at the end of each semester in January and May. Recipients who do not meet the scholarship criteria for renewal may make up their deficiencies in summer school and submit a letter of appeal.

Academic recruiting scholarships awarded to out-of-state residents may include a companion Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship that covers part or all or of the out-of-state tuition and fee differential unless otherwise noted. The Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship is only available during periods of enrollment during which the recipient is eligible to receive the recruiting scholarship stipend. Stipends indicated in the scholarship listing are maximums. Awards may be reduced due to funding or other aid awarded.

Students who wish to be considered for Academic Recruiting Scholarships should apply for admissions by December 1 and complete the admissions process by December 31.
Renewable scholarships are reviewed each year and can be renewed only for three additional years of continuous undergraduate study.
Renewable scholarships are not renewed automatically; consideration will be given for scholarship continuation based on all eligibility requirements, other aid awarded and available funding.
Continued eligibility is dependent on the eligibility criteria established for each scholarship, including the minimum GPR requirement and the satisfactory completion of 12 credits per semester. Unless otherwise noted, a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPR is required for renewal of Academic Recruiting Scholarships. Academic standing will be monitored in May at the end of the academic year."
