Any get accepted today - November 2, 2009?

My daughter received a pleasant surprise in today's mail. She received an acceptance letter to Clemson with an academic award. She is now hoping for consideration for the National Scholars program. Anyone else pleasantly surprised?

I think she finished her application about three weeks ago. She still has to complete her Calhoun Honors application and hopefully that will be done by the end of the weekend, but she has two big projects this weekend to do and of course, there is always the boyfriend... This may have happened because she did get provisional acceptance a few months ago after they received her SAT score.

Talking it over with DS -before he headed off to another band rehearsal - I realize that the school probably hasn't gotten the Counselor Form. He just turned it in last week - so I guess technically his application material is incomplete.

He only found out about the counselor form recently and even then wasn't too concerned since he thought no one would get notified until Feb.

Will have to check with the GC tomorrow to see what the status of that is.

The early acceptance notification is probably because proud_mom's D received a provisional acceptance in the spring and thus already has been "accepted" to Clemson.

Grcxx3, if your DS is eligible for a big academic scholarship, she will be notified of her acceptance earlier than the February date, usually in December or so.

Congrats, proud-mom! Are y'all instate?

Glad to hear she got accepted and a scholarship without applying for honors.

Going to try to throw together a visit either at Mardi Gras or Easter.

Good luck to all on your application!

I have read other posts where top students get their acceptances "early". Do the others come in a batch at one time closer to Feb or do they get sent out as they are reviewed.

Hey proud_mom, congrats. on hour daughter's acceptance and academic award. My son received his acceptance in October. Received OOS tuition waiver, but letter said if additional scholarship is awarded we'd hear about it later. Do you mind if I ask you if your D received more than an OOS tuition waiver, if you're oos? Thanks.

Hello Feedback,

Congratulations on your son's early acceptance. Isn't it is nice to have that out of the way? Anyway, my daughter also received the OSS waiver ($14,000) with the same statement about additional scholarships. From what I remember when we toured Clemson this summer, approximately 35 students will be invited to interview for the National Scholars Program, Clemson's most prestigious award. Invitations will go out in January, I think. I have heard students with really high scores are sometimes given more money to entice them to attend Clemson, even if they aren't awarded the NSP. I guess we will have to wait and see what is going on. From other posts, I am under the impression that students with about a 1350 and above receive the academic recruiting scholarship our children received, but I don't know how many or what the criteria is for those accepted early. My daughter would love to attend Clemson, but it will boil down to scholarships. As a NMSF and expected NMF, she is already looking at very significant money from other schools that she likes, specifically Auburn. Her goal is to save as much money as possible on her undergrad so she can afford grad school without taking out any loans.

Proud_mom, that sounds like a plan! That's wonderful to have all those choices right at her fingertips. My son missed the NMSF by two points in our state, but would have qualified in SC. Oh, well. He has been offered the presidential scholarship for Auburn, so that's very cool. Thanks for your response.

Woo Hoo !!!!!!!!!

DS received his acceptance letter today with the same offer as proud-mom and feedback. That completes his list of acceptances as he went 5 for 5. Now we wait to find out if he becomes a NMF and see the eventual offers in the Spring. That's when he will make his final decision.

OOS Scholarship

My son also received an OOS academic scholarship. The letter appears to be the same. $14000 each year with the possibility of additional scholarship comes spring. He did not apply until three weeks ago and he did not apply to the Honors Program. Congrats to all that have been accepted. It is a great feeling to have such an offer this early!
