| CLEP American Government
My son took the CLEP American Government yesterday. He also took the AP US Gov't test last week. I had him take CLEP because is VERY strong with multiple-choice questions, while essays are weaker. Here is his analysis/comparison of the multiple choice questions on both tests. He says the AP exam multiple-choice questions were more consistent in terms of level of difficulty. CLEP American Government had some easy, some mediocre and some difficult questions on it. One point to remember is that on the CLEP you are not penalized for guessing. So, you are all waiting to hear how he did....a 65....which is worth 4 units of credit at University of the Pacific. I did not want to wait to find out that he did not attain at least a 4 on the AP test (required by most private schools). It was worth the $$ to have him take the CLEP while the knowledge was still foremost in his mind. A word about prep...I purchased Peterson's online prep...you get three full-length, online exams for $20. He took one the night before and finished in 60 mins. CLEP itself also finished in 60 mins. Worth the money I spent!!!
