How Do You Include CLEP Credits on Transfer Form

Hi everyone,

I'm getting ready to apply for some CSUs for Fall 2013 and wanted to make sure I was ready for the application process. I attend a community college and will have 60 transferrable credits come this Spring, 12 of those being from CLEP. My question is, how exactly do I include those CLEP credits on CSUmentor?

Is there an area that says Credit by Examination or something like that and you can list the tests and the scores you received?

Just want to make sure I'm prepared for the application process that rolls around in a week.

Thanks a lot in advance!!

I am not familiar with your specific situation, but I do know that you will need to order a transcript from CLEP to send to the CSU you will attend. I do not believe anything is absolutely necessary for the application process unless your CSU requires proof at that time of your transfer credits. Check with your community college as their transcript may have your CLEP credits listed. You could then provide a transcript from your CC if required during application, but then order the official transcript from CLEP later on.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

My CC doesn't accept CLEP credits so my counselor said they would not be on my CC transcript but can of course still be accepted at 4 year institutions. I was just concerned that sending in an application with only 48 credits and then sending the 12 CLEP credits over after could cause some confusion for the admissions office, possibly even rejecting my application altogether, since I don't see anywhere for where to include the CLEP units on the application form.

I just pulled up a CSUMentor tutorial and it appears that there is a box to check if you have earned CLEP credit -- on this tutorial it is on the same page where you enter the various colleges you have attended, under the heading of "advanced standing credit".

There is also mention of CLEP once you enter the section where you are to list the courses currently in progress, those planned and the CSU General Education Requirements (this last section is the one that has a link to click on if you have AP, IB or CLEP credits).

Obviously the CSUMentor application set-up could have changed from the time this tutorial was created, but it appears that there has been some thought to including credits earned from AP, IB, and CLEP. Read through it a second time more carefully and maybe you will see these points of reference.
