can a clep be taken while in college?

Can a student take a CLEP test (in any subject) when he is already attending college?

I have found that most colleges that accept CLEP allow CLEP subjects tests to be taken while the student is in college. Many have a limit on how many CLEP credits they'll accept in total. Policies vary. Check with your school.

Some schools charge to transcript the credits. Some schools have separate, departmental essays that must be completed in addition to the CLEP for credit.

School policies concerning CLEP are so varied that it is critical to check with your college before taking the tests!

My son's college encourages CLEP, has a testing center on campus, and doesn't charge to transcript credits. It's been a money-saver for us and a time saver for him.

YES YES YES

Cleps are a great and amazing thing.

Coming into college I had taken almost all of the science/math AP's and had all of my intro courses placed out of. However, little did I know that an engineering degree would require 7 humanities at my State Flagship (NC State University). Luckily for me, I read the REA books for micro, macro, and sociology, took them all within two weeks and easily got credit for classes I would have hated all the way through. Planning on attempting Western Civ 1, aswell, be sure to find a good test center near you though. Strayer's are almost anywhere and usually charge like a 20 dollar service fee.

YOu have to ask your specific college as every college has their own CLEP policies. Many will allow this, but that does not mean that ALL colleges will allow this.

thanks you all

i am hoping to start a baking and pastry for my AS degree in fall 2010 however, i haven't decided yet if to finish this line of studies for my BS or to switch and study pre-vet in my final two years. (i love both to bake and to take care of animals) since my baking studies do not have any general studies in courses i may need for pre-vet i am hoping that if i will go this line on studying AP/Clep tests will be able to give me any needed background in the science and math department.
