Eagle In D.C.

The training ship Eagle is in the Potomac River and will be docking near Ft. McNair as part of the Coast Guard Commandant's Change of Command ceremony tomorrow(May 25). They had to lower the boat's masts to get under some of the bridges and needed a tug to guide it through the shallow waters of the river.
A number of cadets who were involved in post-season sports will be joining Eagle tomorrow for the rest of her first phase cruise.
From all reports the cadets are having a great time and will be part of history tomorrow when Thad Allen, hero of Katrina, is installed as the new Commandant. It is supposed to be televised on CNN from reports we've heard.

Hey Boss, do you have any idea what time it will be at? I'd love to watch it if I can.

Awesome, I'll see if my parents can tape if for me or something. School always seems to get in the way of these things!

It must have been a sight to see it go under the Wilson Bridge (under construction)! I'd be tempted, but getting into Ft. McNair these days takes prior clearance. It should be a beautiful day for Adm. Allen. Hope it makes the general DC news tomorrow.
Are they sticking around for Memorial Day weekend? Sometimes they have "open house."

Unfortunately there wasn't any live coverage...not sure why. But hopefully there will be some tape later.

The Eagle will be in DC until Saturday. Tours are usually given. It's fun to see if you get the chance.

They just showed Adm. Allen briefly on CNN. They have coverage on their web site but it requires a subscription.
