Thank you: Now How About Newport, RI?

Thank you for responses to New London doings. . . .

Now, the request has come in for things to do in Newport R.I.. [In particular, recommended restaurants, etc.] You assistance is appreciated.

USNA summer cruises are back and forth from Newport to Annapolis with some making a stop at the Coast Guard Academy.

The club has a wonderful lobster night if you hit the right day, it is in the upstairs bar. Also you have to take in the view at the McDonalds on base, breakfast there is beautiful. It is the best view of the other island, sail boats and the retired ships. There are many good places to eat and some fun micro brewerys. I never ate any place that was bad just Newport in the summer is pricey.

There are the beaches --first, second beach are the most popular. The tour of the "Big Houses" many of the tour guides are military wifes. During the holiday weekends there are concerts with the navy band on the grounds in front of the war college and fireworks in front of the bridge.

AND DO have your Mid use Cozy Cab service wherever they go! They really are great people when your Mid looses his cell phone in one of their cabs.....
The Kings Pointer just left New Port this afternoon underway back to Brooklyn Naval Yard minus said cell phone. I was told that it is a beautiful place and a good steak was found. Along with stuffed shrimp, rasberry iced tea, some kind of crazy sinful dessert. My kid was born with two stomachs & spent 15 minutes on friends cell phone telling me about the meal. I would have liked to have heard more about the town itself but will have to wait for photos. Safe travels Bill's mid & Boss' Coastie!!
