Hey Boss, when the Coast Guard goes into a situation like that what kind of arms do they carry? Are they like the police with handguns? How much weapons training do the cadets do at CGA?

They usually carry a 9mm handgun. All the cadets have to qualify on it. They don't spent a huge amount of time on it. During their 2/c summer they spend a week on weapons qualifying. Most cutters have a machine gun as their biggest weapon.
