DodMERB?

Son's DodMERB finally posted - status = Application Under DODMERB Review.
However there are codes underneath - one of them is -
D155.41 - Distant visual acuity not correctable to 20/20 in each eye

He went to his exam with old glasses - he wears contacts. Our eye doctor says his eyes are correctable to 20/20. Do we wait till the status changes to ask for his vision to be retested??

JTRW-there a million things you can do. Check out websites, come visit, all of that good stuff. Find out as much information as you can about the Coast Guard. The only way you'll make it through the Academy is if you really, really want to be an officer in the Coast Guard. Make sure there are jobs you will really like. If you have any specific questions, send me a pm. I'm a cadet here, and would be more than happy to answer any questions.

Good advice from soccer...no matter which academy you aspire to, you HAVE TO WANT IT! Good luck to you in your quest.

Thank you all for your quick and helpful responses. I did have the pleasure of visiting USCGA, USMMA and USMA this summer and would like to schedule an overnight where possible. I do have trouble finding descriptions of comossioned duties in the CG. What I do is go ont he USCG web-site and read all the Flag bios and their staffs. I also read the cutter web-sites and unit sites and get a pretty good feel for a career experience through that. But I would like to get a personal view as well. I would have to say that USCGA web-site is the most user-friendly and it proves very helpful. Also I have spoken to my SAI (I am a Company CO in JROTC) ad we are in the process of planning a visit to the Miami Coat Guard Station. Or one closer to us, if anyone knows of any feel free to tell. I look forward to the application.-John

JTRW-I had a lot of trouble finding that too. I know that I personally want to do a lot of Law Enforcement stuff, such as a LEDET or MSST team. what stuff are you interested in doing? If you have specific questions about careers, I may not know the answers but I'll find someone here who does. I remember the feeling of trying to figure this stuff all out!
