Color Blind

Is it true that you cannot be accepted to the Academy if you are color blind. Would appreciate any information because I already began the admission process to the Coast Guard Academy.

Thanks
-Mike

From DODMERB SITE:

U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY(USCGA) - There is no need for you to request a waiver. If you complete the application process by the published deadline, and you are competitive for an offer of admission to the United States Coast Guard Academy, or an affiliated preparatory school program, you will be automatically considered for a waiver. The Admissions Office will arrange for your medical records to be evaluated by the Academy's Chief Medical Officer. If the waiver authority requests additional information, tests, or consultations, you will be notified by DoDMERB. Questions related to the waiver process and/or the status of your waiver review should be directed to the Admissions Office at 860-710-6776. Waivers with neither be considered nor granted for defective color perception.

Red/green color blindness is not waiverable.
