| Early Action and DoDMERB
When deciding about Early Action, is DoDMERB status considered? For example, I'm in pending cause I have to submit some remedials.

I don't think that will factor in...appointments are offered sometimes pending completion of physical requirements.

| New deadline date
Just got an email stating that so many people are applying that the website is overloaded. Because of this they are extending the early action dealine to November 4th.

Also how does one check his DoDmerb status?
My file thingy at dodmets.com says that the current status is: Closed
What does that mean?

| "Closed" means that you have completed your medical exams and that the data have been entered and transferred to DoDMERB. You will now need to check on your medical status with DoDMERB.

| Academically Qualified
My son just received a letter from USCGA dated 2 Nov 2006.
It states: Quote:
Congratulations on completing your application to the Coast Guard Academy. I'm pleased to inform you that we have found you academically qualified for the Class of 2011 and your file has been forwarded to the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board. You are one step closer to an appointment to the Academy, but please consider the following to ensure your eligibility:
You must be found medically qualified by the Department of Defense Medical Examination Board (DoDMERB) before 1 June 2007; therefore, you must have completed your medical exam by 15 April 2007. If you have not already scheduled your medical exam, please contact DoDMERB at (800) 841-2706 to do so. You can confirm your current medical status with DoDMERB and find additional information on-line at https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil.
Again, congratulations on reaching this important milestone in the admissions process. The Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board will carefully review your record and we will notify you of our decision no later than 15 December 2006.

My son, too, received the same e-mail message after applying early action, passing DoDMERB, physical fitness test, AND successful completion of AIM this summer. He has been "meeting" mailman everyday since Nov 15 in anticipation of an appointment. USCGA is his dream and absolute first choice with a passion. He has already been accepted at 3 colleges to which he did NOT apply early action or early decision. Isn't it maddening??? Already into December. Any idea if any early action applicants have already received appointment notification? Or, do they mail all the early action decisions at one time? Say, December 10?

Early decisions go out right around that Dec. 15 date. Don't be discouraged if your son doesn't get picked in that first group. My son did not but did get an appointment in March. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Boss is it possible to find our earlier your status?
Or must you wait the grueling months?

I'm afraid you'll have to wait. They start working off the alternates list in February then make appointments straight through to a couple weeks before R-day. So a wait is inevitable.

| I understand!
My son too went to AIM, did all the DoDMerb stuff and is qualified and got his CGA application in way before the early action deadline. He's received 3 college acceptance letters plus a Senatorial nomination to the USMMA and an appointment to the USMMA......and still nothing from the CGA!!! He's wearing out the driveway walking to the mailbox every day.

Any sons or daughters being actively recruited for sports? Since I guess 70% of students play some sort of varsity sport. I agree with Boss, whereas sports can sometimes tip the scales in favor of an appointment.
