Thank You USNA

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/19/07)--Junior Jacob Pitchford was named the New England Women?s and Men?s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week.

Pitchford, an exchange cadet from Navy, made the most of his first ever collegiate appearance and start last Tuesday vs. Albion (Mich.) in Fort Myers, Fla.

The left hander went 5 2/3 innings scattering six hits and allowing just one earned run while walking four and striking out six to earn his first career win.

Chuck Arena's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a tie and gave Coast Guard Academy its 2-1 win over Wheaton College, ranked second in the American Baseball Coaches Association, in the first game of its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Jacob Pitchford allowed just four hits with five walks and four strikeouts over six and two thirds innings in the first game for Coast Guard (5-4, 1-1) while Ken Franklin and Christian George scored.
