| Company Assignments Out
The company assignments for swab summer(and beyond) have been mailed to the Class of 2011. These will give you a clue as to when you will be on Eagle. They are also listed on the www.cga.edu site. Have any of you gotten yours yet? My son will be cadre for Charlie Company. R-day just 19 days away!

Great guys...yes you should be on the first phase of Eagle...and I have seen both spellings but "Alfa" is what they use at CGA. Only bad thing about first phase of Eagle is you don't get to go to the Flag Ceremony at Mystic which is when a lot of parents get to see you for the first time since R-day and you get 4 hours liberty. But it's worth it because you have the shortest time to wait for your cruise. Good luck to all.

Okay remembering that this is subject to change, here's how it usually goes:
Alfa, Bravo, Charlie-first phase
Delta, Echo, Foxtrot-second phase
Golf and Hotel-third phase
Let's say you board the Eagle in Miami on Sat. July 28 which is what will probably happen. You might get some time off but you more likely will get liberty in the next port, Brunswick, GA. The changover is usually on a Saturday.

When the Eagle is in port (look on the Eagle calendar on the CGA website), the swabs will "work" that weekend giving tours to the public, but they will also have time off, some more than others. Many, many families go and see their swabs during that time. For example, July 27th to July 30, Eagle is in port in Miami. The swabs will typically arrive sometime on Friday, give tours on Sat/Sun, and depart for their week on Monday morning (?). Then they are out to sea for the next five days.

Bossf51 has an older cadet than I do so I am just basing my information on what it was like for my cadet last summer (who is now a 3/c). I think Saturday is the official "changover" because my son will be coming into Miami on the 27th and has been told he will be "released" on the 28th (Sat).

I was going to say Bossf51 is older and wiser (Haa) but after reading that I didn't know if he would appreciate that, especially since I am no spring chick!! I should have said that he has more experience than I do so he probably has better information because it is based on more time with the academy and how they do things.

True hp and your experience is more recent so I think we're both in the same boat so to speak.

I think to clarify the best time to see your cadet is in the port where he joins the ship. My bad if I gave the opposite impression.

That is true...last year some woman posted something on here about taking a tour and the cadet not knowing that much about the ship...ha ha for good reason. But you'll fake your way through it. You guys have a great adventure ahead...I'm hoping to see a lot of you at R-day if I can make it.

Another thing...it used to be you changed companies after swab summer...now the one you are assigned in swab summer is the one you stay with for four years(hopefully of course).
