I got a letter that was "No" you have been "Deferred " for Early Action CGA...... =( This world is sad.... every candidate is really just a test score....gurantee if I had a slighty higher test score I would have been an alternate or an appointment..... how sad that a school thinks only of your test scores and how that reflects in the future (hence they want to see high test scores so their school looks better)

Just because candidate post their test scores and "stats" on here doesn't mean that admissions looks at you that way.
Even though your package is boiled down to a whole candidate score doesn't mean that test scores are the biggest part of the equation.

Academies are looking for well rounded scholars, leaders and athletes. Since there are more candidates than spots available this IS a competition.

Don't get discouraged you - are deferred. You still have a shot at regular admissions...... good luck.

Saying that we got appointments solely because we may have gotten higher test scores than you demeans all the hard work we have done up until this point to gain admission. Keep this thread positive and don't sour everyone just because you got deferred. You'll be reconsidered in march anyway. It happens to lots of people. Stay positive.

Hmm.. still no news in NC (no admission, conditional or deferred!). Like I said last Friday - the mail is slow here in rural NC!

Congrats to everyone who has received appointment or conditional - what a great holiday gift!! In the meantime I have gotten acceptance from NROTC schools & MOC Nom for USNA (2nd choice).

i want to add to that, i did Not get in for academics. I wont list my scores, but they are mostly bellow or at the minimum requirements. Its all the other stuff and leadership things that i do that got me in. tman i would not be discouraged, you still have a good chance for the regular admission deadline.

Regular Decision

When updating your application with new grades, SATs, etc., what is an appropriate number of additional letters of recommendation?

I'm so excited! I got a call this morning from USCGA Admissions Office in New London saying there is an offer of Appointment in the mail (mailed yesterday). Definitely a GREAT CHRISTMAS gift even if I don't have it 'in my hands' yet!

Way to go, Liz! Is it your first choice or are you waiting to hear from others?

Well I'm about 20 years past the age cutoff, but I believe my son will take a long hard look at the USAFA appointment and the USCGA appointment before ultimately deciding to go to New London.

Congratulations to everyone who received an Early Action appointment! If you were deferred to Regular Action, be sure to keep in touch with your Admissions Officer and submit the items requested in your deferral letter.

Go Bears!

Son's appointment accepted, signed, and returned to New London.

I expect lots more paperwork will be coming shortly (vaccine requests, dental records, etc).

Anyone else make any decisions yet?

Yes, I have decided to decline my appointment. Rather I sent in my accept to the Naval Academy. Best of luck to you.
