Selective Service

Do we still need the register? Our admissions packet asks for our selective service number, but on the selective service form it says that people going to the CGA or any other service academy (except for merchant marine) do not need to register.

thanks

Glock, found this on the Selective Service website, Registration FAQs:

"If a young man turns 18 at any time PRIOR to actually attending one of the service academies he is required to register.
If he turns 18 WHILE attending, he does not have to register."

Interesting info, though, I did not know that. So if you're 18, or will be before June 30th make sure you register.

Just as a quick note you can also register before you turn 18... I did mine about 2 weeks ago (my birthday was sunday) and in fact that card itself came in the mail before my birthday now that I think about it... the number they ask for is given to you as soon as you finish the online registration at sss.gov by the way.

Thanks. I did it online. I actually turned 18 more than a month ago... it was about 1.5 months ago. Bad me haha.
