Objee: maybe you (or anyone else who KNOWS) can help me.
My daughter has appplied EA to the coast guard.
The deadlines for other schools are getting VERY close.
I can save $200 in application fees if I know no later than tomorrow (schools she wouldn't bother with if she gets into USCGA).
Can she (or I; which one better?) call tomorrow and get an answer on the phone if the letter doesn't come?
Or would that be regarded as inappropriate?

toughquestions,

You might want to consider going ahead with at least some of the other applications, even if your daughter is accepted to USCGA. While the chances are slim, things do go wrong between acceptance/appointment and reporting dates. It is usually a good idea to have a Plan B in place, just in case. This is a piece of advice I have seen repeated numerous times on these forums.

Good luck to your daughter!

KPMOM: She's already been accepted at a decent college; a state school that took one look at her GPA of 3.98 and ACT score of 32 and jumped at her. A couple of the remaining applications will be sent anyway. But 5 of the schools are not worth applying to if the USCGA acceptance is in hand.
And $200 is $200; a shame to waste.

You can also call your local Academy Admissions Partner, they have access to the data as well.

Luigi: do you mean the admissions officer assigned to our state?
That guy NEVER answers or gets back in a timely fashion.
Any suggestion?
Is calling OK?
Need to know TODAY to save the $200.

You can call your Admissions Officer in New London (there are only 3 that cover the entire country so they are busy!) or your local Academy Admissions Partner, either one of them can provide you with the answer you need.

Thanks to all. We got the answer today: an accept (conditional on medical but that is not a real issue; just paperwork).
Happy holidays to all!

Congratulations

Congratulations to your daughter. Always good to hear when someone gets in who really wants to go. Now the fun begins, R day, Basic, Flag ceremony, the Eagle...all great things to look forward to this summer. It was not a walk in the park for my son, but he is working through the challenges as they come along. Although it is tough, there is a lot of support in many ways. The teachers at the CGA are outstanding, and are very willing to meet with students. The coaches that I have met are outstanding.
