Coast Guard Doing Itself Proud!

The USCG has been showing over the last two days what a great service it is! The efforts of the helicopter pilots and rescue swimmers has been amazing! Great pictures on CNN and elsewhere of dramatic life-saving rescues. I'm proud that my son has cast his lot with this great humanitarian service!

Bossf51: You're right that the Coast Guard is getting some well deserved positive attention for its heroic efforts during the huricane. That's one great benefit of being in the Coast Guard. Other than drug runners and other people involved in illegal operations on the water, everyone has a positive opinion of the activities undertaken by our Coast Guard. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the other branches.

Jamzmom: Saw a CNN interview of one of the USCG helicopter rescuers during which he credited his Underarmor boxers for much of the success he had under the severe wheather conditions. Said some of the other coasties in whitey-tighties had to return to base several times for new dry gear.
