My son was accepted into Harvard's college program for high school students. He is presently int he 11th grade. he was also accepted into a few others that give out grades. I want this to be a great experience without the pressure of grades that follow you. he may do great or get a low grade in something. I don't know if it's worth it. Any thoughts out there? Thanks!

Are these the programs that are worth thousands of dollars? If so, I will tell you what this will not help you in.

1. It will not help your son get into Harvard.
2. It will not help your son have MUCH of an edge on college admissions. Colleges are well aware of these programs. They just indicate you are willing to shell out thousands of dollars. (So maybe it will help to prove you are a willing donor if you want to get your son in that way)
3. Admissions process into these programs, I feel, is to make the process sound prestigious. Many students far below the calibre of the college admissions process may get into these programs.

I have a friend who done one of these programs at Stanford. She was in the top 10% of her class. But did not even get waitlisted.

So if you are going for other reasons, go for it.

I took a class at Clemson last summer. It looks good on college applications.
