EFC is high but not enough money to help D for college.

Our EFC is too high for my D to be considered for financial aid but we're paying a big amount on tax this year that we can't help pay for college. Can anyone give me insights of how she can get financial help from school?
We are in the same position. Unfortunately our D selected a college where she received 1/2 tuition versus going to BC or Villanova who gave very little financial aid. She was sad but as she came to grips with the level of loans she would have to take she feels better about her decision.
My suggestion is go with whatever school gives you the most aid. When you graduate a high debt load will be a burden. The job market for graduates is not good and entry level positions are paying record lows.
