What do you do for fun at Colby?

So I love Colby. I really want to apply. But I've been reading some things lately about how alcohol and athletics (apart from academics) is what the social life there is centered around, and since I can't visit, I thought I'd ask CC: what do Colby students do for fun?

D is new first-year, doesn't do alcohol, lives in chem-free, and is having a FABULOUS time. LOTS of activities--parties, game nights, movies, outings, sports, music--oh, and I think she's also studying . Seriously, from what we hear, it's a very friendly student body, and there's always something going on. The dorm organizes activities, the college has zillions of sponsored stuff, and she's involved in several clubs (a capella, Ultimate, outing club, etc.), so my picture is that every minute has the opportunity for something fun.

My S is a soph and wishes he had more hours each day so he could do more. Like cadence's D, he, too, does not do alcohol but is very involved in a lot of clubs and avails of the dorm activities. Check the calendar of events on Colby's website, but this actually is not complete at times. There's usually more, and the events are widely advertised on campus.

There is always plenty to do. In case you thought we didnt have alcohol on campus, we most definetly do and the school is pretty open about it. They encourage responsibility and security wont hound you. Alcohol aside, every student receives and email every day at about midnight listing the activities for the next day. We have the outing club, colby cares about kids, music, 2 speakers every week (Dr. Ruth came last week). There is always lots to do.
