i go to colgate and i think you have a great chance of getting into colgate. colgate no longer requires sat II, but your scores on those are very high. if they indicate how you will do on the regular sat, then you will be a very strong candidate. your honors seem impressive, how is your gpa? your work experience as a translator is also a strong component because it is unique. as is moderating the game website. my advice would be to stay involved with your extracurriculars so that they can balance out your strong academics and make you a well-rounded candidate. goodluck!

Thank you for your comments
Our education system is different so our GPA scale is 10.0
My SAT scores can be around 2050, is it enough for an international student ?
Does the factor that my brother is a current student there affect my chance ?
Looking forward to your reply

hi

i think the fact that your brother goes to colgate can do nothing but help. it will also just allow you to get to know colgate more intimately than other international students. i really am not familiar with the new sat format so 2050 doesn't mean much to me. colgate's average sat score, not including the new writing part, is around 1380. hope that helps!

Thanks so much
Does Colgate take CR and Math seperately as SAT I, and Writing as another subject test ? If yes, then 1380 is not so hard to reach, as CR is a lot easier than the old Verbal

hey,

sorry to take so long to respond. colgate is mostly focusing on verbal and math for the new sat. they are going to look at writing, but since it is the first year for it, they aren't going to weigh it as heavily. one of the reasons colgate no longer requires sat2s is because they always wanted to see a writing test, and now that is included in the sats. but the average of 1380 is of verbal and math. does that help?? have a good day!

Thank you anyway
My brother (class of '07) said only high SAT + high GPA = Colgate admitted, do you think that's true ? My SAT wouldn't be so high, so I'm sending some supplementary materials Do you think that's a good idea ?

hey--i think sending any supplementary materials that will shine a new and different light on you is a great idea. don't send tons of stuff, but anything that helps to bring out another side of yourself that isn't visable through academics and the essay.

are academic results (I mean the SAT...blah blah) really necessary? y do ya hv to mention them while adcoms have seen them already?

'd better focus on ur eacs and work experience. arrange them in the order of interest (based on the comapp) or time (like a sample CV).

btw, is it okay to arrange the activities that demonstrate the *same* quality?
