RD Chances - help!

White, coming from a very competitive New England private school.
SATs - 610 math, 740 reading, 760 writing.
ACTs - 27 composite - breakdown, 33 writing, 33 reading, 27 mechanics or something, 25 science and 26 math (grrr at the low math scores)
SAT IIs - Spanish 710, Lit 660, Math 1C - 600

I am a pretty poorly balanced student - average an A-/B+ in humanities subjects like English History and Spanish, but have 3 very low grades in math and science (2 C's in physics and biology, and a D+ in geometry, oh God...) which my college counselor has said puts Colgate in the "huge long shot reach category." !!!

GPA rounds out to be a 3.0 uw, 3.4 weighted.

Great recs. Big art portfolio of paintings & mixed media. Extracurriculars: activities chair, student council, tutoring, lots of community service, school newspaper, piano.

Do I have a shot.. ?

low chances- everything looks great but your GPA puts you at the bottom 25% of admitted students

I have the same stats as you....except I'm from Chicago, African-American, and female. And even though my school's good, it definitely doesn't compare to New England's prep schools. Keep us posted!

Also, shouldn't your weighted GPA be higher? I have a 3.0 UW and 3.7 Weighted...

maayybe. i took 5 APs. my school doesn't believe in weighted GPA (kindof a ***** cause the AP classes are like 100x harder) so i just sortof took a stab at what i thought it would be, and i could definitely be way off. maths not my strong suit.

plus i heard colgate doesn't weight or calculate GPAs in the first place. meh whatever. still think i could get in? i'm debating switching my app to EDII. any thoughts?

If you really want to go to Colgate, EDII would be a good idea. You have a decent shot and I think anything that makes you stand out a bit could get you in. I wish you the best of luck!
