Current Student Input Please!

Hi, I'm currently a freshman at Colby College. Last year I was accepted by Colgate regular decision. I almost accepted the offer, but freaked out after two not so good visits to the school. There were just some things that at the time gave me the "no" feeling. Anyway, I'm planning on transferring out of Colby as I want to go some place with elementary and secondary education programs (and Waterville is a ****hole, but that's another story)...
So, anyway, what are your geniune impressions of the school? How is the surrounding area? The social scene? The academics? Any advice would be highly appreciated! Thanks.

I love Colgate. Won't go anywhere else. If you still have specific questions, PM me.

Hey Once:

I visited the campus this fall and got a fantastic vibe from all of the kids I met. The facilities were beautiful and seemed tech savvy. The sports facilities were great. The town is small but cute, but typical of lacs. Please tell us what you didn't find desireable. Dana

to be perfectly honest, the vibe i encountered may have had something to do with the fact that i was bitter about not getting into bowdoin after i was deferred ed. come to think of it, i was just a real unhappy camper during that time frame. in retrospect, my visit was fine...at the time i was just zeroing in on stuff like the fact that some people were driving around audis and stuff...and in all honesty, that's what kids at my high school did anyway. i was a real dope about picking a college...i chose colby because it was the only one i didn't get to revisit before choosing, and thus i wasn't able to find fault in it. whatever, what's done is done. definitely consider colgate if you're looking for a great lac. actually, colby isn't half bad either, it's just not for me. hope that helps.
