Colgate Premedical

Hey Everyone! I just got accepted to Colgate and I definately want to go to medical school. How prestigous is Colgate with regard to med school acceptance. Is it better than or equal to schools like u of rochester, washu in st louis, and emory in this regard?

any feedback is appreciated

Going by the *numbers* both Emory and WUSL have more students at the top colleges. But that doesn't mean diddly. You may change your idea about medicine after your first organic chem course.

If you're unhappy you won't do well. Pick the college you like the best
The location and mentality of all three are very different.
Are you from the south?

that's so weird...i just checked out the MD applicants site and whenever you go to the stanford profiles page there's one kid who had like a 31 MCAT score and a 3.34 GPA and got accepted from a top 50 school(i don't want to be to specific) and then there's another kid who DIDN'T get accepted with a 40 MCAT score and a 3.79 GPA from AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL! how does this work? is the interview that important?

theres 2 rounds... round 1 is all about numbers, and i hear that its computer processed and a human does not even look at ur app yet

if you pass round 1, then round 2 you are invited for an interview, and essay, EC and all the other stuff is reviewed. round 2 is all about having great interviews etc and that all matters more, but to get to round 2 you need numbers.

i dont know how to explain this kid, it may be some exception (minority, legacy etc, or maybe he had some killer ECs that a top 50 school saw)

No different than the kid attending Harvard with 1250 SATs (old scores) 600 on the sat subject writting test, 600 in their other subject tests and a 3.65 gpa...Not a great deal of guessing there
