turns out it was addressed to my dad from the President's Club asking him for money

I got in too. Financial aid is not as good as I wanted though. They gave me a small grant, but I didn't even get work study.

730 V 680 M
790 US History
Debate, Eagle Scout, some German stuff, etc.

I actually found out right before I got on a bus to go to a debate round. My mom was picking up my brother so I ran around the school, opened the envelope, read the first line, and ran back to the bus with the envelope. I put the window sticker in my debate tub (its clear) without peeling the paper off, and I had 3 or 4 people come up to me and say that they were apply to Colgate too.

Good luck to everyone else

It was a fairly thick big envelope. They send you a calendar that takes up a lot of space. I'll post the letter in a minute so the lurkers can read it.

(Note: I scan my letter. Any typo are from my ocr program)

Dear David:

It is a thrill and privilege for me to extend to you a warm welcome into the Colgate University family. More to the point. I am delighted to offer you a place in the Class of 2009 that will enter Colgate in August 2005. Congratulations!

Those of us on the admission committee were excited by your application and your record of academic achievement. We found your work at [Name of High School] to be most impressive and we believe you possess the potential for great success at Colgate. The outstanding liberal arts education that Colgate offers its students has at its core significant opportunities for both challenge and discovery. Based on your accomplishments, David, we are confident you will find your experience here exhilarating and rewarding.

In order to complete the early decision agreement you made with us, we ask that you forward the five hundred dollar ($500) enrollment deposit and your signed enrollment certificate within two weeks of the date of this letter and withdraw any applications you may have pending at other colleges.

Between now and next fall, we look forward to reviewing your mid-year grades to verify your continued strong performance in your senior classes. All enrolling students are also required to submit an official final transcript verifying completion of senior year in good standing. Should there be any decline in your academic or personal record, our offer of acceptance may be reviewed. While you have every right to celebrate your admission to Colgate, I trust you will approach the rest of the year with focused enthusiasm in anticipation of the exciting challenges and rewards that your Colgate education will bring.

While our communications with you between now and May will be less frequent, please do not feel that we have forgotten you! When the rest of the Class of 2009 has enrolled in late spring, the Dean of First-Year Students, Beverly Low, will begin sending materials to you about housing preferences, orientation, course registration, payment of charges, and Colgate activities and traditions.

We extend our very best wishes for your continued success during the remainder of your senior year. As you prepare for the transition to Colgate and your college years, please let us know if we can provide additional advice or assistance.

Sincerely,
Gary L Ross
Dean of Admission

At the end of the letter, Mr Ross writes a personal message.
