The key question is where are you more likely to be happy and do well. Between these two schools, med schools aren't going to make a distinction: they are going to care about your grades wherever you go.

Either is fine. If you're very close to your family, you might want to go for Colgate to have that kind of freedom to travel home when needed.

See a couple of threads on this board discussing Colgate's pre-med and sciences- Colgate IS very respectable and appreciated by med schools.

MCATs play a significant role, as do recs.

Emory is # 36 but that shouldn’t be the criterion you use for deciding on where to attend. http://www.wsjclassroomedition.com/c...derschools.htm

Have your goals, interests, desires, skills, passions , personality changed over the last four years between the end of 8th grade and now?

Because they will over the next four years too.

College is not just about your preprofessional education, but developing, educating and and expanding yourself. Think about where you will have the best chance of becoming the fullest, most rounded complete person. Both Colgate and Emory are fine, nationally recognized schools. You'll get a fine education and the credentials you need at either. If you are going to continue on to medical school, you'll do it from either one. When the time comes in four years, besides grades and MCATs, med schools will be looking at who you are. And of course, you'll be living with who you've become for the rest of your life.
