Help me decide. I am thinking in engineering, physics or math but I would like to take some courses on business, economy, or just something else than science. People here compares Harvey Mudd with the Ivies, is it that good? I sometimes feel comments overrate it.
A friend from Harvard told me that the reputation of Colgate is high above that of HMC. I live abroad, I don't know anything. In my country both are as unknown as colleges in latin america are for americans.

Colgate does not actually have an engineering major. engineers at colgate spend three years at colgate and two at either Columbia , Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, or Washington University. The two typically aren't compared because Colgate is a liberal arts school and Harvey Mudd is engineering.

yada, HMC is a Liberal Arts College, not an engineering college.

Rocket, HMC is known primarily for its STEM courses with the other liberal arts courses being attainable at the other Claremont schools. For a great all-around academic and college experience, Colgate over HMC, IMHO. In the end, it's where you'd feel more comfortable.

Hey mafp I am looking to do the same thing with engineering at Colgate and what you would do is something like a three-two program, but when I visited the Physics program many people said (mostly the professors) that almost all students stay at Colgate for 4 years and then go some where else for two years because they just like the experience at Colgate and that’s why they stayed all four years. Also I don't know how good HMC is in terms of liberal arts program compared to Colgate's programs in Economics, Arts, and many more.
