5% of Colgate students are international and 20% (including international) of Colgate students are multicultural. I'm international student myself (I'm a sophomore at Colgate), and I think Colgate did a really good job helping me get adjusted.

i was thinking about computer science or physics, but i'm not sure at all... i'm glad that i don't have to select a major right away. i guess i'll just wait, try this and that, and see what happens, then decide. how about you, anirudh?

ha ha, it's never easy, but i bet that whatever we choose we'll have a lot of fun. things get bad only when you don't want to study not when you have too many interests. right now, i'm not worried at all about choosing a major, but there are so many other things that bother me. i didn't expect it, but i'm starting to feel anxious about leaving everyone and everything and going to a completely new place to live among total strangers. is it just me, or is it a bit scary?

i wouldn't say that i know you already... rather i know that somewhere on the opposite side of the world, there is a person who is going to that same new place where i'm supposed to be this fall, a place about which i know almost nothing. still, this idea is... very... promissing (i have to be an optimist despite my true inclination because i don't want to be prejudiced from the start). what is hardest for me to accept is that i don't know what to expect at all. no matter how long i stare at some photos, i can't picture myself at colgate... any suggestions? how do you imagine living "there"? i wish i could have gone to the college during the april visit days... i just created a yahoo messenger account it's princessofthedawn00@yahoo.com |

| the best thing is not to imagine at all... that way you have no preconceived notions and get to be just urself.. and at this point of time i'm more worried about the Visa than actually thinking of how i'll fit in at Colgate.. but i've been in a hostel for most of my life so i'm not really paranoid.. but yeah its a different place but that's the reason we applied in the first place.. to experience new things..
bdw u got ur I-20 yet?

hey, anirudh, i haven't started the visa-getting yet because i'm still waiting for the documents from colgate. when did you get them? sorry i didn't reply earlier but these days i was awfully busy because it was the end of school and now everything is over (except graduation and prom). i can't believe it! i will finally get some sleep may be you are right about not imagining at all, but still i can't help it :P living in a hostel? why is that? i guess it will be far easier for you to adapt to living on your own in a dorm and you don't have that much to worry about... and yes, living in a new place was one of the major reasons - it is so exciting though for some people it is the greatest drawback. i look at it as an adventure, as a way to get out of a world that i'm too much used to. still, there will be so many things and mostly people that i will miss.... i'm just beginning to realize the consequences of my decision to study abroad and i'm not sure if i even want to think about them. so, how much time is left till we go there? 3 and 1/2 months? doesn't it sound too realistic?

i'm so sorry that you don't feel well .... i know how hard it is to be sick at the end of the school year... last week i had three days of presenting my senior independent honors project and i had caught some flu... it was horrible because the place was cold and humid and i had to stay there all day... i'm happy that it's over but the flu still doesn't want to go away so, if you're still going to school, do your best, but also get some rest ; i wish that you'll get better soon
