I think that's pretty standard at most schools. I think at Cornell it's 3.7 for an A- & 3.3 for a B+ instead of 3.667 & 3.333. At Brown, I'm pretty sure it's still A=4.0, B=3.0 with nothing in between, which is what my high school was like.
I have only heard of an A+ in math and economics classes, although it probably exists sporadically in other subjects (probably more objective ones, i.e., physics and chemistry as opposed to English and philosophy). I wouldn't be too concerned with stuff like that at this point if I were you, though.
