SAT II's - Seen but not Used?

D is expecting to apply ED1. I know Colgate no longer requires SATII's. However, to hedge her bets, she is taking two of the SAT II's in two weeks. Since my understand is that sending in SAT I's to Colgate, her entire SAT history goes as well, can doing poorly on SAT II's hurt her chances for ED at Colgate since these scores will be seen, but theoretically not used?

While dismal SATII scores might hurt a candidates chance at any school, I doubt they could "ruin" an application. Also, Colgate does use SATII language tests to place students out of the foreign language requirment.

You could send her scores now w/o SAT II scores, and wait until she gets them back. If you think they are good, then she can send them.

I personally would not waste my time or money taking them if she is sure she is doing ED I and expects to get in Maybe if she is borderline, but SAT II aren't going to make or break her at Colgate. She be better off taking the two hours or so and doing something she could write a good essay about.

Thanks. The hedging was if she did not get in ED, she needs them for ED2 school.

according the dean gary o'ross, sat II in no way affect admissions, not for the better or for worse, as only SAT1 math and verbal are calculated

My son took no SAT IIs and got in ED.

I agree with Colgate 13. Save your money, unless you want the Language SAT IIs, and spend the time on that essay. I firmly believe it is my son's essay that got him noticed and in, even though he had the SAT scores and grades.

Since she is already signed up, then don't send the scores.
