1. strong Pre-med 3.5/5; Colgate is more of a social sciences school, but still know some people that went this route. I would imagine it would be similar to comparable (Bowdoin, Middlebury, Hamilton, Colby) schools.
2. Location 2/5; Syracuse (nearest major airport is ~ 1 hr away). Colgate and surrounding area is very rural, although most there consider that a positive. Besides an airport to go for interviews, other travel, why else you need a major city within two hours?
3. laid-back and friendly 4.5/5
4. weather condition: 1.5/5, depending on what your definition is. It is snowing and below 32F 4/8 months students are there, but most, to some degree, enjoy this atmosphere.
5. Campus is great 5/5. Ranked 1/324 from a guy who's spent his life touring US colleges. http://www.colgate.edu/DesktopDefaul...6013&nwID=4077
6. Dorms are pretty good 4/5
7. Class difficulty. 3/5 there isn't a huge workload, but the avg grade in a class is around a B.

my two cents

1) 4/5 or even 5/5 - it depends in what you want. All of my friends who went the pre-med route were very successful. Bio in general is very strong. I know people going to grad school at Yale, Stanford, and Berkley just to name a few.
2) 4/5 - the rural atmosphere promotes a sense of community. People aren't running into the city every weekend, but rather on campus with their friends.
3) I agree 4.5/5
4) It builds character and is not as bad as it acutally sounds.
5) you have to see it to believe it.
6) agree 4/5.
7) depends on what you take, how motivated you are and etc. People can coast through if they try, but it's a waste of a great opportunity. I've had classes where we've read 2 books per week and had several large papers, but like I said it depends on how motivated you are. I've never seen grade inflation. In fact I've had professors who actively try to fight it by making us work all that much harder for the "A".
