Colgate is in my top 2. Not sure on ED or Reg.

Hi. I am going to be a senior in high school. I live in Connecticut and go to a very comptetive high school that has a good repuation (locally, and nationally). It is the best public school in the state. I have visited Colgate and loved the campus and the people. I can see myself fitting in. Colgate is in my top 2 (its a tossup with another school) and my family tells me to apply ED to Colgate. Would I have a decent chance Reg. or go for ED?

My stats:

Weighted Avg for 3 yrs- 93/94

Sat 1- 1850 Combined (plan on taking again in oct with SAT prep)

Sat 2's - U.S. History- 630, Biology-660

Courses: I have taken a rigourous course load thus far (end of junior year). This includes 3 APs: AP Bio (5), AP USH (4), and AP Eng. Lang (3). I have taken a total of 13 Honors Classes. I have taken 3 1/2 regualr level classes.

Expected Senior Year Course Load: AP Eng Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Euro, AP Macroeconomics, AP Envi Sci, Span 5 honors, Band Honors

Extracurriculars:
J.V. Swimming- 2 yrs, Varsity Swiming- 1 yr with letter- (total 3 yrs.)
J.V. Volleyball- 3 yrs
Crew- 1 yr
Leadership Organization- 1 yr
Environmental Club- 1 yr
Student Council- 3 yrs
Working with disabled srudents- 1 yr
Intramural Basketball- 1 yr
Boy Scouts- Since Kindgergarten, should be an eagle scout soon
National Honor Society- 1 yr
Spanish National Honor Society- 1 yr
Principals Council- 1 yr
Summer Camp Counselor- 1 yr unpaid (volunteer), 2 yrs paid position

Instruments:
Violin- 2nd-9th grade

Research: I did a summer internship at a university hospital working with graduate students. The internship dealt with working with the herpes virus and working with toll-like receptors and other receptors on cells (immunology)

Thanks for any help that you can give me

I get the impression that Colgate focuses more on the math and verbal parts of the SAT. If that score is even by section, it only translates to ~ 1230, which is a fair bit below the 25%; so would say re-take the SAT and apply ED.

Definitely apply if it's really your first choice! They'll overlook your SAT scores and see that you really want to come Everything else all looks good.

Good luck whatever you decide!
