Orientation

So, orientation begins for Freshmen today. Write in some time this week and tell us all how it's going.

Although most returning upperclass students won't be back til Saturday, I'm sure we who've been answering your questions as best we could all year would like to hear if and how actually being at school has met or differed from your expectations.

Actually, orientation begins on Thursday...my daughter arrived early for the pre-orientation service program...she was thrilled to finally get the ball rolling! It is a long roller coaster ride from that first campus visit and through the application process and senior year- I'm sure it felt like an epoch journey to her.

My daughter did COVE last year too. I took her up and as an added bonus, got to help semi-set up in her dorm room, get shelves etc. from Walmart and have her comfortably ensconsed before the rush of the rest of the Freshman several days later.

Enjoy the year (and if you're planning on going, reserve someplace now for Visiting Day).

You scared me there for a minute. Here I was sitting here, thinking I had it all planned out -leave tomorrow, drive up, stay the night and arrive on Thursday morning and you made me do a double take. Maybe I'm not as calm as I thought.

Sorry. I was talking to my daughter this morning about how different it will be this year; much of her stuff already there in storage, packing the car and leaving herself Saturday, then stopping to pick up a friend in the City, and then the two of them going up themselves. She thought Freshman started today.

I agree that it was nice to help her set up her room in a sparsely populated dorm- I did the same thing last year with my older daughter (at another school). As the parents of four, we like as many smooth transitions as possible! I spoke to my daughter last night- the COVE crew helped clean up a summer camp and ready it for closing- she was tired, but energized at the same time.
