im a freshmen, so far the only grades ive gotten have been numbers not letters for math and science tests....at the end of the semester are the numbers averaged together, or converted to letter grades for each course- and is it just A,B,C,D or are there +/-, and what is an A+,A,A- etc on a 4.0 scale

just wondering now, to get an idea of what to aim for in different classes thru the semester

You will get a letter grade in each course; there are + and - grades. Not sure what the scale is though.

Number averages are given a letter grade that potentially could include + and - grades.

The scale (at least when I was there) is:
A+: 4.333 (extremely rare)
A: 4.0
A-: 3.666
B+: 3.333
etc.
This must be in a student handbook or something like that as I feel I knew this by the time I had been there for three weeks.

It's right in your student handbook. Or go to the Colgate Catalogue online and it'll explain how the grades will show up on the transcript. If it's about grades for the course... ask your prof or look on the syllabus.
