Admissions: This Year vs. Last

I know that last year was Colgates largest applicant pool ever... How do u guys think this year will shape up? More? Less??

And also what about in the years to come, do u think it will continue to grow to slide back down to where it normally is?

The reason im asking this is becasue my dad heard the prez say that she hopes for Colgate to be a top 5 LAC in 2 years. Just wondering how realistic that is

Class 2010 app. pool was the 2nd largest. '09 was largest...I'd say Colgate's up and rising...GPA/SAT score wise dramatically (more than most peers)

Colgate in top 5? Pretty tough chance there when the top 5 aren't even moving up and down at all. Top 10 is more realistic.

Colgate's SAT avg for enrolled students actually dropped six points from '09 to '10, which was typically reported by many top schools with the new writing section making the test longer. Enrolled avg SAT rose six points from 1341 to 1347 for '08 to '09.

I would definitely say there is a good possibility that Colgate will move into the top 10 liberal arts colleges during the next couple years. The school is in the process of launching a 400 million dollar capital campaign in addition to the over 100 million dollars worth of construction taking place on campus currently. Colgate is the place to be.

The Colgate experience is not going to be one ounce different whether it is ranked #8 or #16 by USNWR. The only potential difference is the pettiness factor where more potentially stronger candidates may be willing to apply if it's at #8.
