Will never get resolved. Colgate is actually determined to limit the number of Greek organizations it has on campus. They are strongly encouraging all Greek orgs to have houses in order to remain recognized.... which means that Kappa Kappa Gamma could potentially be eliminated in the next few years if they don't find a house soon.

What happens with Colgate and DKE is between the two of them and it's a past thing, the student body shouldn't be involved as there is no desire by Colgate to re-establish this frat and to have a rush for it. Even the other frat that was suspended for 5 years could/was supposed to be back on campus in 2005... no word at all.

I thought ATO was coming back Fall 2006. Did that not end up happening?

stonecold, I have heard that rumor as well. I was surprised to hear that, having spoken to some of the alums about the issues that were left open -- but the current members on campus might know better.

Which might explain why KKG wasn't able to rent the DKE house for next year....

The unavilability of houses on Broad Street is a problem for KKG- no open space or any for sale. Yes, they do have one or two townhouses for its members but in order for a Greek organization to be recognized on campus, they must live in a house with Greek letters on them. And the Res Life does not want to put up Greek letters on these brand new townhouses as it is not the purpose of this townhouse community (to be turned into a Greek scene). When my sorority was in danger of losing our house due to a low number of volunteers, we were told that we'd get "demoted" to one townhouse for 16 sisters and not have Greek letters. Fortunately, we stepped up our efforts and are keeping our house for another year. Res Life is certainly making life difficult for the Greeks!!!

As for the news on DKE, I don't know- as far as I know that house is still under DKE's ownership.

I have e-mailed my dear friend, Tim Mansfield, who is the director of Greek affairs to get updated on these current rumors

BTW- the townhouses are meant to be used as a temporary/band-aid.
