What is Gate House really like?

I have just received my residence assignment and it is Gate House, the one place I didn't want based on what I've read about it. Anyone know anything about it based on experience?

you should see if you can track down some of the people that did the OUS program on facebook or something. they stayed at the gate house.

We were told in April that Gate House will eventually be torn down to create parking for the new science bldg under construction.

Gate House is not nearly as bad as people make it sound. The doubles are the biggest on campus and the place serves as something to bond over. People love to complain, but where you live could never make your Colgate experience bad.

The Gate House got its bad rep from the fact that it was built as a temporary structure and used to be triples, but now it's all doubles. The main drawback of Gatehouse now is that it is farther away from all the other dorms, on the other side of the Coop.

yeah, it is right next to the coop and a bus stop which is a good thing though. the building is structurally horrific looking, but the rooms are not all that bad, and the people who live there have a pretty strong bond.
