I don't know if those are likely letters or not, but I sure wish my D had gotten one! Why would they go to the trouble of writing a letter saying how much they've enjoyed reading your application if they weren't planning on accepting you?

Hmm, I think I threw it away...I am like 90% sure it wasn't a likely though, because I def would have picked up on the not-so ambiguous wording of "you're accepted"!! Plus, I'm definitely not expecting to get in so I don't think I would have gotten one if it were a likely...anyway, it said something like "the class of 2009 is the brightest in our school's history, blah blah blah, we have thoroughly enjoyed reading stories of tragedy, triumph, and comedy, blah blah blah" then it went on to say something along the lines of "we have enjoyed reading about your accomplishments, and you should be proud of all you've done..." which is sort of likely-ish but I think it was just a general statement. Don't stress about it :-)

I don't think Colgate sends likely letters - they have sent early write type letters (early acceptance letters).

Colgate, like the majority of well known liberal arts colleges and universities today, does send likely letters.
