Did you get a handwritten note?

Did anybody else get a handwritten, personalized note at the bottom of their decision letter, from the director of admissions?

Also, did everyone get a calendar? Those pics make me want to go to Colgate! I think i'll hang that in my dorm room, no matter where i go! lol

The Dean of Admissions actually reads through everything, its great. My mom was really impressed. I guess it just comes to show that they really emphasize on interacting with the students on a more personal level. lol the calendar was so nice~ I'm not sure if I'm going there or not, I'm still waiting for my top choice school.

Congrats!

It was not just the handwritten note, in itself that was impressive, but that the person wrote things which showed they had really read your materials. Really makes you feel that they want YOU and not a set of numbers or checked off criteria.

I totally agree, even though I'm not sure I will end up at Colgate I have to admit that they have been by far the most interactive and supportive college that I applied too! I have been really impressed with the admissions staff, remembering me from the college fair and personal notes etc. I'll feel guilty if I decide to go somewhere else because they're just so nice...

Mine mentioned my senior year courseload and reminded me to bring the Lapsang Souchong tea I talked about in my "What is the one thing you'd bring to Colgate?" essay. Yeah. That question was whack. I had no idea what I was going to write for it so I just thought of some random things and settled on this interesting, smoky kind of tea we have in our house that I like. It's a comfort drink. Anyway, I waited till the last minute to do the essay and did it on the night before it was due (Jan. 14).

I can only guess what admissions thought when they read it. Personally, I'd be a little weirded out. But something must have clicked, cause I got the fat envelope on Friday. Go procrastination!

My daughter wrote about bringing chapstick.

Hmm... I wonder if the admissions people are a bit....further outside the box than the school's reputation would lead one to believe.
