My one question about the Benton Scholar Program: How many people were actually offered to be a Benton Scholar? Just curious about how selective of a program it is...

Benton Scholars should appreciate having his name on their scholarship. Dan Benton is one of Colgate's greatest donors, and he made himself the youngest member of the James B. Colgate Society, which is comprised of those who have given $1m or more to Colgate. He runs the hedge fund Andor Capital and gave tons of money to improve the already outstanding Colgate education. He gave an excess of $20m, I believe. I don't come from giant wealth, and I'm not sure of his background before Colgate. I am a senior here and what I am sure of, what I'm determined of, is that as much as I appreciate his efforts, I am going to steal his record. By the time you all finish Colgate, you'll share my impetus. Take a cue from Dan Benton and read Andrew Carnegie's "Gospel of Wealth". I have. You will all be successful for going to Colgate. You'll understand the value of philanthropy, especially with Dan Benton as a modern example. Don't forget that your experience here will be the reason you're so successful; a Colgate education is unique among other colleges and universities in how it makes you a good person, which is great for business;and don't forget that following Dan Benton's example is the best thing you can do for those who will follow you as Colgate students and alumni.

How does one become a Benton Scholar? Is there an special app? Or every general applicant automatically considered?

Does it include aid? If so, how much?

Every student is accepted as a Benton Scholar based on their HS record and EC achievement. There is no special application.

The aid is need based. If they like you, you get the money

Good Luck!
