waitlist at colgate....oh no!

I was waitlisted today. It says in the letter that last year 44 students were accepted off the waitlist, except this statistic is kind of useless if we don't know how many people they put on in the first place (and how many people accepted their place).

Anyone know this information or where it can be found?

From collegedata for Class of 2010 data, it says Colgate wait-listed 1,190, 579 accepted a place on the wait-list and that 5 were accepted. Don't know what it was for last year.

Try calling the Admissions Office to ask ask how many students were offered a place on the waiting list last year (and this year) and if they didn't mention in your letter, whether the waiting list is ranked, and if it's ranked where you are. If you want to stay on the waiting list, you can let them know how much you want to attend and why, at the same time you work on evaluating the best option among the schools that accepted you. Good luck!

I personally feel that Colgate WILL take a significant amount of applicants off the waitlist. This year has been very messy and cut throat. I would suggest remaining *active* on the waitlist. Keep showing interest.

yeah, with an admissions year as weird as this one, I imagine all these selective schools will go to their waitlists, so there's hope...

Jsuthl: Call them and ask if they are still taking people off the waitlist and convey your interest. It wont hurt.

Good luck!

losing hope?

i called colgate yesterday. last year their class was 744 and 39 got in off the waitlist. they were aiming for a class of 730 and it just happened to end up a little larger. they are again shooting for 730 and look like they are on par to make it. they are doing nothing in terms of taking people off the waiting list as of now. they are sending out information soon(via mail) about the summer waitlist. it basically means that they want to see who is still interested in remaining on the list. ugh, this is such a long processsssss.

my instincts tell me that this year has been so messy with acceptances and waitlists and everything that i still stand a chance of getting in, but i just feel defeated. boo this waiting game.

Seeing what movement there is on the Dartmouth, Williams, Cornell wait-lists could be helpful in seeing what potential slots may open up at Colgate.

True gellino, but at this point it seems like only a few spots are moving/opening up.
