As a student at Colgate, the fact is that a lot more matters at Colgate than just your resume. Colgate isn't just a numbers sort of place. They (Admission) care first and foremost about your academic achievement, as Colgate is a demanding academic institution and the students come here with academics as their number 1 priority. With that said, a lot else matters: your essays and recommendations.

Your chances will be best if you do your research about Colgate and make a strong and real case as to why you and Colgate are a good match.

You clearly have a good shot, but are not a slam dunk candidate. You seem like a good fit based on your preferences. Applying ED could put you over the edge.

I agree with gellino, but applying ED doesn't really change your chances and hurts you in terms of financial aid. The ED acceptance rate is higher but that's because it included recruited athletes who are required to go ED. If you look at the general application pool, the statistics are indistinguishable. Maybe ED would put you over because of your commitment to the school, but that's also true of all ED applicants. Seriously, I know this advice is overly used and perhaps almost meaningless to someone in yuor position, but apply ED if Colgate is really your #1 by a long shot.

thank you soo much! i met with an alumni counselour from colgate today at my school and i really learned alot about what they had to say. i dont think i want to apply early decision mostly becuase i really cannot afford the school as is. hopefully ill get scholarship money?
