  • ACT: N/A
  • GPA: 9.90/10.00
  • Rank: we do not rank
  • Other stats: TOEFL score 112/120
Subjective:
  • Essays: My commonapp essay was very personal and somewhat artistic; my Colgate essay was ok (not enough space to write; I don't do my best when I have word limit essays)
  • Teacher Recs: Very, very good
  • Counselor Rec: Very good too
  • Hook (if any): Not sure...
Location/Person:
  • State or Country: Romania
  • School Type: Public
  • Ethnicity: Caucasian
  • Gender: Female
  • Intended Major: Mathematics
  • major strength/weakness: strength - I showed I am a passionate person in my essays; weakness -> my CR section (650)
Other Factors: I asked for plenty of Financial Aid, and since I'm also an international, the pool was definitely competitive. Too sad, I liked Colgate quite much. But I'll learn to accept it. Guys, I wish you all receive positive responses from the college!

You will have much trouble concentrating at Colgate indeed. My application has been said to increase the applications from my school from 2 to 12.

Decision:ACCEPTED!

Stats:
  • SAT: 2160 (did not submit)
  • SAT IIs: did not submit
  • ACT: 34
  • GPA: 3.74 (somewhere around there)
  • Rank: school doesn't rank
  • Other stats: All accelerated and AP. 4's and 5's
Subjective:
  • Essays: I actually loved his Colgate Supplement His common app essay I thought lacked depth to who he is, but revealing his depth easily ISN'T who he is... so maybe it worked?
  • Teacher Recs: I assume very good.. never saw them.
  • Counselor Rec: I assume very good. Never saw it.
  • Hook (if any): No Hook
Location/Person:
  • State or Country: MN
  • School Type: Independent
  • Ethnicity: White
  • Gender: Male
  • Intended Major: BioChem (so far).
  • major strength/weakness: Strength: probably his academic rigor first and foremost. Weakness: His SAT II's which is why he didn't submit! Plus, an inability to toot his own horn, somewhat necessary evil in college admissions. Thankfully, his teachers must have done it for him per the note from Gary Ross.
Other Factors:
He really gave that supplemental essay a lot of thought. And if I were really honest, I think his being a boy helped too.
