don't worry about it, i just got rejected today. i think they accept less than 20% of their applicants. it's extremely hard to get into so you should be happy that you still have a chance. good luck.

Sorry to everyone who was waitlisted or rejected!
What were your SAT scores/class rank if you were waitlisted?
Hopefully you'll get off the waitlist =]

I was also waitlisted. Taking a look at CDS gives a good idea as to what your chances are if you're on the waitlist. Take a look here(section c in each pdf):
Colgate: Institutional Planning and Research

Chances are not great. Luckily I got in other places where I think I will be happy if Colgate cannot bring me in.

I was wait-listed too.
I was 100% expecting rejection, though, so this is a nice surprise. I accepted a place on the waitlist but I don't plan on getting in. :P Haha

3.67 GPA, 2100 on SATs, 2080 on SAT 2s, 5 aps and all honors classes
great essays, good teacher recs, okay ecs, bad comm service.

This year the admit rate was 22%, according to the website. I THINK waitlists will be used a lot this year, but I say that with some caution only because I think the more selective the school, the less likely kids decline offers of admissions past the class size.

So, they accepted 1100 plus students and the class size is a little more than half of that.

This said.. you never know unless you try. There is absolutely nothing to lose by opting to stay on, UNTIL the deposits are due and then, of course, you risk your deposit if you should get it.

And if you do get in off the waitlist, tell the other school ASAP. Obviously there are kids waitlisted therel who would LOVE to see you leave to make room for them!

waitlisted

this was the "easiest" school i applied to that i actually had plans of attending, so i'm somewhat shocked and quite disappointed...

Stats:
CR: 670
M: 720
W:770
SATII: MI: 760 or 770, MII: 750 or 760, Lit: 690
Teacher recs: really good as far as i know, counselor rec decent
Top 5%
Eagle Scout (i was hoping this would count for something)
Lots of EC's
Common App essay was really good for me
Supp essay was decent, not wonderful
Hook: white boy from a white town and a very very white school, valedictorian was accepted after i told him he should apply, that a** never visited...

most schools come back on tuesday, so i guess that'll determine what i do about waitlisting

ugh I was waitlisted too.. sent in the letter yesterday taking my spot.

I had 2120 sats and I attend a competitive private school in new york.. I visited but had an alumni interview which lasted nearly 2 hours.

did everyone join the waitlist? also does anyone know the exact statistic of how many people were waitlisted?

Waitlisted also. Colgate was definitely one of my top schools, so I'm kind of bummed...
Accepted a place on the waitlist, but I hate not knowing what's going to happen next, so I honestly have no idea if that actually served a purpose or not.

When are waitlisted students usually notified of being brought off the list? I assume it is usually after May 1?

Sometimes in May or June once they start getting the numbers.

22%? I don't think they publish this stat until sometimes late April... Last year was 23.7%.
